Could Neil Walker Return To Retire As A Pirate

Post by fjk090852-7 »

Neil Walker was recently dfa by the Phillies, and on the Bucs pregame on 93.7 The Fan it was discussed whether the Pirates should bring him back to end this season, and retire as a Pirate. It would probably be a good gesture on their part, and some of the fan base would appreciate it.

Would be a nice gesture but Bob must come up with a plan so it won't cost him any money

Obviously, be nice to have him around, although it would be nicer if there were fans. I still think that they should have looked at him for the manager's job last year.

Maybe they can look at him for next year's job. Just evaluate him, sort of.

A) Getting him, and we still suck.

Sign him to one of those "dollar for a day" contracts next year when the fans are back.

That is a good thought, but they would have to bump someone from the roster to accommodate Walker. This year rosters are 28 players, and I am sure there is one player such as J T Riddle who they could dfa to return Walker to the team, and retire as a Pirate.

I'll remind you- Who's the guy who spends that dollar? That's a dollar that he can put toward some suspect who may or may never see the light of day in a MLB uniform.

Walker's got his last dollar from that man.

That dollar would be the best investment Nutting could make. Neil Walker Retirement Night would be the closest thing to a sell out the team sees next year.

It's pointless IMHO. In all honesty, what is significant about his career anyhow with the Pirates, other than he was an above average player for a short time and he was from here? He never really did anything all that notable.
