So far this season, there have been 17 times when the Pirates scored only to have the pitchers give up runs in the opponent's next at bat. This has happened in 12 of their 24 games, more than once in 5 of those games and, in one stretch, 5 games in a row (4/12 thru 4/17).

Archer has been the culprit in 4 of his 5 starts including twice in 2 of those games for a total of 6 times. Williams and Taillon did it 3 times each. No one else did it more than once. Of course sometimes that's just going to happen. That's baseball. But it's a troublesome trend considering that scoring runs is very difficult for this team and pitching is supposed to be their strength. But that's too many times to give those precious runs right back. Especially when one pitcher has done it as often as Archer. It makes me wonder if it's a matter of not focusing as hard after it looks like the offense is going to provide runs.
