Kelly has some normalcy to the lineup. Cruz is hurt so he can't play. IKF is back and Pham is serving his 1 game suspension. Good luck Donnie in your first road game as manager. :D :D :D :D

Bucs put two on with two outs in the first but come up empty.

Kelly must be driving Cherington crazy with his independent thinking. Mlodzinski went into the 6th, Boricki went 2 innings, Cutch in LF, IKF batting 6th.

But Cherington knows his analytics and formulas never worked, and Shelton followed them and was fired along with the dugout analytics guy. So Cherington probably knows his best chance of keeping his job is if Kelly succeeds. And Kelly is more likely to succeed by thinking independently instead of following the same formulas that got Shelton fired.

Mets get the first two guys on but a double play and strike out puts an end to that. No score after one.

Do you mean to tell me that the manager is going to manage the game? What a novel idea.

IK-F homers. Yes, you read that right. 1-0 Bucs.

Bucs don’t add on. Bucs lead 1-0 midway through two.

When IKF was one of the few Pirates hitting but still battling 9th, they said it was because the analytics indicated that was his best spot in the order. So now he bats 6th and homers! Cherington’s idiotic thinking is being exposed.

It’s like Skenes is toying with the Mets as he allows two more baserunners with one out and then puts his foot down. Still 1-0 Bucs after two.
