I don't see Cherington doing that. I think he's painted himself into a corner where he's at the point where he has to sink or swim with what he's assembled. But Cherington might not last the season. Right. I've made that point in the past. Underwriting the Pirates in exchange for them not competing is just a cost of doing business for the big market teams. The downside is that it causes the league to lose credibility to those who are paying attention, but I don't think the owners care.
