If he becomes the pitcher who they anticipated being prior to TJ surgery, then the Pirates better take a long hard look at Searage, and any pitching coordinators.

I am already questioning Searage. Way too pitchers have faltered under him. After they leave they work with others in different organizations and become pretty. And we continue to switchers struggle under Searage.

What has become evident about Searage is that he can help some veteran pitchers who previously enjoyed success (Burnett, Volquez, Liriano, Happ, but certainly not Archer) to regain that success, but he has never overseen the development of young prospects into superior pitchers. Even Cole, who was expected to become a stud, didn't reach his potential until leaving. Glasnow is on that same path. Taillon was good last year but has not sustained any level of excellence. Morton had great stuff when acquired from the Braves organization but never achieved success under Searage and has been a stud since leaving.
It seems like Searage is getting by on reputation rather than results. If anything, the organization's development of young pitchers has been a failure under the current regime. This could be any combination of poor drafting, inadequate minor league instruction/training and coaching at the MLB level. But it's reached the point where things could not get any worse if Searage left.

Way too early. I fully expect Kingham to develop into a solid mid-rotation starter. No reason he couldn't have come down with his own phantom injury and tried to get back on track in AAA.
Good move for the Jays...low risk, potential high reward.
