Ask Dr. Shed

Post by GreenWeenie »

August's Ask Dr. Shed's Question Of The Month comes from noted Pirates fan and philanthropist, Bill Gates of Cornwallis, WA.

Mr. Gates asks-

Dear Dr. Shed:

I hear that somehow, some way, you once again got your hands on Ben Cherington's offseason Outlook (of course) Calendar. How do you do it?

Find anything interesting coming up?

Signed,

Bill

Dear Bill,

Thanks for your question. Ben will spend most of October and November laying the groundwork for future deals, but no deals will be made because the "asks" will be too high. In December, that will morph into Ben not wanting to block the progress of any LMG's. In January 2021, he will make many trade offers to other teams, but it takes two to make a deal and the other teams elected to go elsewhere even though Ben will have offered them better deal. In February, Ben will start to get very excited to see what the guys they already have under contractual control can do. In March, Ben will announce that all the financial flexibility they saved over the off season will be added to next year's budget.
