Polanco Slumping

<t>Defense definitely matters and the way some metrics are grading his defense this year is, in fact, killing his value. But...he has not graded poorly in RF over his career. It is incorrect to say he has always been a poor outfielder no matter how often someone wants to say it. His value hasn't bee...

Polanco Slumping

<t>The problem, though, is that we are having this discussion right now. And right now, for 2018, Polanco has an OPS+ of 115 and Bell has an OPS+ of 102. Polanco is trending up and Bell is trending down. I have no idea where they will be later on and really neither does anyone else, but this season ...

Polanco Slumping

What message needs to be sent to Polanco? He's improving his game. This is his best offensive value ever so far this season. He's been better than Josh Bell who, so far, is not improving his game. This whole discussion flabbergasts me.

Polanco Slumping

<t>I think Polanco would have a good chance of netting a good prospect also. It just depends on whether the acquiring team believes this year's offense will be maintained going forward. I would be real curious to see what he (or Dickerson) would net if you package a surplus #4 arm like Kuhl with him...

Kingham up, Moroff down

<t>Here's some more food for thought: Austin Meadows has played four major league baseball games. It's somewhat amusing to see people discount what Polanco has done as some sort of short sample and then anoint Meadows a better player based upon little more than a weekend. Let's not forget that Polan...

Kingham up, Moroff down

<t>I don't get the hate toward Polanco at this juncture either. All players have hot and cold streaks. The fact still remains that he is having a good statistical overall season offensively this year with an OPS+ of 117 and he's doing it in a way that suggests it's sustainable. He might not hit 30 h...

Corey Dickerson

I don't think patience is running out with Polanco. Despite the low batting average, he has an OPS+ of 118. It's a short sample, but he's actually having the best offensive season of his career. And he's arguably been a bit unlucky in the process.

Cole

<t>I'm not sure how many guys Cole was supposed to strike out during his Pirates tenure. That's subjective and I won't comment on it. I will say that Cole struck out 8.7 per 9 innings when he was a Cy Young candidate in 2015 and he struck out 8.7 per 9 innings when he disappointed in 2017. There is ...
