MLB Draft

<t>So ---

Through round 11. 2 position players and 10 pitchers, 9 of whom are college pitchers.

Perhaps some of the pitchers are two-way players, otherwise, some of the coaches may need to play in the Rookie League games so the Bucs can field a team.</t>

MLB Draft

Seems like a rather bland draft after Skenes. A raft of college pitchers who seem like easy (slot or below) signs. Still waiting for an overreach; a high school player who is committed to college but decides to take a pay day and start a baseball career.

MLB Draft

<t>Hey, we get a college lefty in the 6th round. Rated as the 197th best prospect. That said, what stood out to me in the following summary is how little he pitched this year. Slot value of $351,400. Strikes me as a good payday for how little he pitched because his team didn't trust his control. <br...

MLB Draft

<t>When the Bucs signed Skenes one of the thoughts was that the Pirates were trying to save money so they could pursue players who may command a higher bonus. Well, through their first 6 picks 5 are college juniors/seniors and only their 2nd round compensation pick was a high school pitcher. In shor...

MLB Draft

<t>Draft continues today.

Checked in on the Bucs' picks through Round 3 (Garrett Forester, College 3rd baseman from Oregon State), and Round 4 (Carlson Reed, a college right-handed reliever from West Virginia).

I know that talent is talent, but it sure...

Random thoughts at the A-S Break

<t>I agree with the overall assessments expressed in this thread:

1) Starting pitching. Keller has been good. Although Hill has 7 wins, I cringe every time he takes the mound. While Oviedo has often struggled, I look forward to seeing him pitch. Really disappointed in Contrer...

MLB Draft

<t>Lot's of bad memories on that list.

Perhaps some reason for optimism in that two of BC's picks have already made the majors - Gonzales & Davis - and Termarr Johnson was a highly rated hitter. Also encouraging that Davis made the majors as quickly as he did despite a se...

Official Game Thread 7/6/2023 Pirates vs. Dodgers

<t>Things are not looking good. 7 games under .500 and now we have to play the D-Backs in Arizona.

There are only 3 games remaining before the all-star break but here are a few things that I would like to see happen before the break.

1) I know it won't...

Official Game Thread - 7/4 - Bucs @ Dodgers

<t>Good win on what is likely to be a nasty road trip. Collectively, the pen again exceeds expectations and their pedigrees and helps to give the offense a chance to come back, which is exactly what they did against the Dodgers closer.

With Hayes scheduled to return I hope tha...
