Re: Pirate Trade Rumor

For all the talk about the oft-injured Jazz Chisolm or Luis Robert, perhaps the Bucs should look at a RH outfielder like Bryan de La Cruz from the Marlins or Lane Thomas from the Nationals. Certainly not stars, but should provide better offense than what they are getting from the likes of Taylor, Su...

Re: Official Game Thread - 7/22 - Bucs vs Cards

Doc, I agree on the summary. It is very accurate. I also agree with your observation that if they acquire only one hitter, it has to be someone more impactful than Ward. But, who might that be? We know they want a RH bat. I do not think Luis Robert is the guy they need. He's talented, sure, but has ...

Re: Official Game Thread - 7/19 - Bucs vs Phillies

So wonderful to be at the game. Lot of fun. So wonderful seeing the Pirates score guys with productive outs. Also very cool to see a lady wearing a 22 Cutch Phillies jersey. There was also a guy in what I thought was a dinosaur suit down below me. As luck would have it, he came walking by my car as...

Re: Official Game Thread - 7/19 - Bucs vs Phillies

2 innings of the Brown/Walk Comedy Show was more than I could stomach. Let's see how the Phillies broadcast looks. Phillies announcers are normally pretty good. The only time I struggle listening to them is on a Sunday home game when Mike Schmidt is in the booth. He's pretty boring to listen to. Jo...

Re: All-Star game

Good example of the blown save stat: NL's Logan Webb was charged with a blown save for giving up runs in the 3rd inning. Maybe a blown save should not be charged until the 8th or 9th inning when the pitcher might have actually gained a save. But yet, a Quality Start is awarded for 3 runs or less in...

Re: MLB Draft

I thought they might have gone with college hitters early, trying to supplement the window of opportunity with Skenes, Jones and Keller. Instead, it seems they are back-filling the minors with the next wave of players after them. For me, this is a concern because they have rarely developed players t...

Re: Skenes, Reynolds all-stars

I don't think there's any question that Reynolds should have been an All-Star. When you look at the Pitchers, there are a couple guys that were selected as the lone representative for their team, like Helsley, Imanaga, and Tanner Scott, and that certainly didn't help Kellers cause. What is surprisin...

Re: 6/29 - Wildwoocoach meets Possum

Surg, I believe that was Deadwood Al who purchased the tickets. I know he fronted all of the tickets for the Anti-Christmas game I went to in 2009 or 10. That was a pretty large group, and someone, I don't remember who gave him a hard time for getting good seats for the game. it only cost us $15 ea...
