On this day (November 5th) 44 years ago, the Pirates traded Manny Sanguillén and some cash to the A's in exchange for manager Chuck Tanner. Manny came back to the Pirates a year later and we know what happened after that.

I wish him the best. I know my expectations for how he could help the team were too high, but he seems like a good dude.

When the Pirates' representative started talking about non-payroll expenses, I was genuinely surprised he didn't mention the money invested in our world renown Dominican academy.

I don't think there is much customer demand for doubleheaders. Those of us here have an intense interest for the team, but for the casual fan (especially those with kids), seven hours is a big commitment
