Re: Off Season Roster Discussion
i don't know if you can get Ryu on a one year deal, even though he came off of a pretty serious injury. He may still be viewed as having some upside as mid rotation kind of guy, so I think a multi-year deal, or one with an option would be needed to sign him. Lorenzen on the other hand, had a good 1...

Re: Off Season Roster Discussion
Just a guess, but a Pirate trade may be in the works. On their MLB Site there is a Running Back segment. They have done one for Peguero and Cutch. Last week on the site there was a segment for Nick Gonzales which I didn’t find tonight on their site. Maybe it was removed, or possibly I just can’t fi...

Re: Off Season Roster Discussion
Yariel Rodriguez signs with Blue Jays for 4/$32mil. Can't believe the Bucs couldn't afford that.

Re: MLB Rule Changes for 2024
I am a fan of the runners lane, but wish they would add the extra base on the foul side of first that the runners have to use to avoid collisions. Seems like an easy fix.Possum wrote: ↑Fri Dec 22, 2023 2:07 pm New Rules for 2024
Just screws up the game for both fans and teams.

Re: Off Season Roster Discussion
I am surprised there hasn’t been word one regarding Trevor Bauer anywhere. Seems like this would be a perfect fit for Nutting’s 1yr/$5 mil offer with a player option for the second year to get him back in the league. You want an innings eater, there is your guy This was talked about on the board qu...

Re: Off Season Roster Discussion
I'm a bit surprised, fjk. You're an astute observer of all things Pirates. The Pirates are operating this offseason in the very same way they've operated over the past twenty-some years. That consistent offseason strategy has been developed by an owner who refuses to have a payroll above a preconce...

Re: Winter Meetings
The Mariners picked up some of Gonzales salary when they traded him to Atlanta. Supposedly Atlanta is picking up some of the salary with this trade. Not certain what the Bucs salary obligation will be. I also read the Pirates will send a player to be named or cash back to Atlanta. In my opinion the...

Re: Off Season Roster Discussion
I wonder about Davis. He doesn't seem to actually have a position. Unless his defense in right improves, he's not an outfielder, and he hasn't shown (or had opportunity to show) that he can be an ML catcher. He would be my first thought on a trade candidate if they decide to thin the catcher ranks....

Re: Pirates Sign Free Agent Catcher
I am thinking they should trade Triolo now and use Endy at first primarily. Saw an amazing stat yesterday that of the 32,000 players that have ever played MLB and had at least 200 at bats, Triolo is numero uno in BABIP at .451. That is not sustainable and he will regress. If you thought he was meh n...
