Cole Tucker has been granted his release by the Mariners. Just another #1 Draft bust by the Pirates. With all the poor seasons they had, their drafting of amateur players should have been much better.I really believe the current FO has a better ability to draft premier players.

But he began his career as a utility infielder/outfielder with the Pirates. He struggled as a hitter and did some pitching in a Mexican winter league in 1954. The Pirates sent him to the minors in 1955 as both an OFer and pitcher where he batted .302 with 13 HRs and, as a pitcher, was 12-5 with a 2.24 ERA. The Pirates recalled him in July and his first game was as a starting pitcher on July 24. He won the game, going 9 innings and striking out 11. A few days later on both July 29 and 30 he started in CF and batted cleanup.
