CSN was designated for assignment by the Mariners today. He didn’t last very long with them.

They needed a roster spot. If he clear waivers, he can go to their AAA team. But he will probably not clear waivers.

Sad news. He was spectacular in his first year here. Am I remembering correctly that he took no hitters deep into several games that year? He looked like he was going to be special for a long time.

He sure did.

Pitching for the Cards against the Reds in 1989, DeLeon pitched eleven shutout innings while facing the minimum 33 batters, yielding only a single.

DeLeon was called up to cover an injury or some such, and after blowing the opposition away a reporter asked Chuck Tanner if DeLeon would go back down once everyone was healthy. Tanner replied, "If he does, I'm going with him."

Quite a while later, DeLeon got sent down, and Tanner stayed in Pittsburgh.

The well-named "Bullfrog" He pitched only four seasons in the majors, never had a losing record.

Demery joined the team in June, 1974, and made 15 starts, including a two-month run beginning in mid-July when he went 6-2 in the middle of a tight pennant race.
