Why does stupid stuff always seem to happen to the Pirates?

I was wondering the same thing. He should have been frantically yelling for joe to go to 2B. But Joe went all the way back to the 1B bag and just stood there clueless.

Jones with 13 pitches in the first, 11 for strikes. Two strike outs. This guy attacks hitters. I love what he’s shown so far in his outings.

Greg Brown said the Pirates will closely monitor Jones' pitch count tonight. That seems like an odd comment since he's only been in the 80s pitch range in each start so far. It's not as if he's overworked. I guess it's just one more thing Shelington prioritizes ahead of trying to win.

I thought Cruz might be good for 30 HRs this year. But not if he doesn't swing at the pitches right over the middle of the plate.

Wow, Jones gives up a leadoff double then gets three outs, including two more strikeouts. 29 pitches, 25 strikes!!! No score after two.
