If the Pirates were actually trying to win -- which they are not -- they would have held Skenes back for a day and started him tonight on 5 days rest and let him go 5 innings.

Of course with this offense Skenes could have thrown a 9-inning shutout and the scored would be 0-0 going 10th.

Skenes next start has to be in Pittsburgh.

He's the best pitcher in the system ... BY A MILE.

And if the pitch count is going to be something like 59, let him get those 59 pitches in PIttsburgh.
