I hope everyone has their lucky Bradenton Marauders hate ready for tonight, two game lead with three days to go. Down in the lower levels Q-Mill gets his last start in a disappointing season, hope he ends on a high note and Zachary Dodson also gets his last start, his stats have improved slightly each month, especially his walk rate. Just noticed Brandon Moss has a chance with a strong finish to lead the IL in RBI's,he's 5 behind the leader,Dan Johnson, who has been promoted to the majors. Jose Tabata is still 8th in the IL in stolen bases. Josh Harrison is tied for the league lead in hits so thats something to watch and he's 2nd in average to a major ringer,Tagg Bozied. Robbie Grossman and Q22 are tied for 3rd in the FSL in runs scored and Q has the RBI title sewn up. Grossman is just 2 walks behind the league leader. Aaron Baker is tied for 4th in homers in the SAL,7th in RBI's and tied for 7th in doubles.

 Indy(69-71):715pm Crotta (5-9 4.56)
  Altoona(80-58):630pm Hughes (12-7 4.23)
  Bradenton(75-59):7pm Baker (2-2 2.40)
  WV(62-73):705pm Miller (3-5 5.53)
  SC(32-40):705pm Dodson (2-5 4.96)
  GCL(29-30): season over
  DSL(37-34): season over
  VSL(48-20):  VSL Champs!

  Final scores from yesterday:
  Indy won 7-5
  Altoona lost 7-2
  Bradenton won 9-4
  WV won 3-0
  SC  lost 3-2

Dodson might not start tonight.  They said last night that he might be shut down for the season.  No word yet on whether he'll get a shot.  I'm heading up to Williamsport today to cover the game.  I should have confirmation a few hours before the game.

Dont know if anyone mentioned it here but ZVR was also shut down for the season,no idea why they wouldnt let either of them make their last start. I'd rather they gave them less innings/pitches but let them go that last game

Taillon and Allie are also leaving the team today to go home for a bit before instructs begin.  I talked to both of them yesterday, along with ZVR and Dodson.

When do the Instructional Leagues begin this year and how long will it go,any idea?   I thought it was cool that the Orioles are having their Instructional League at Camden Yards this year

Last year they did it in two phases: phase one started on September 15th, and phase two was on September 29th.

So much for Crotta finishing strong,he gave up 6 earned and lasted just one inning. He was definitely a fringe roster decision/addition for the rule V,this wont help. I think he gets an AFL roster spot so they can get more looks at him

QMill finished up strong,5ip 1er 4 K's 8 groundball outs and horrible defense behind him,3 botched grounders that led to 2 earned runs and an early exit. I hope Jesus Brito is gone before next season,he's garbage. When we said it was good to get anything for Bixler I now disagree,Brito is a huge negative on defense and Elevys Gonzalez should've been playing regularly once they saw how bad he was and what little effort he gives.

Brandon Moss hits a 3 run homer. Heard during BP today he hit a sign 440 feet from home plate.  He's now just 2 RBI's behind the league leader with 3 games to catch him

Morris threw 2 scoreless innings in relief tonight

   Q22 hit his 19th homer just now,reaches 100 RBI's. Congrats non-prospect! Smiley

Morris threw 2 scoreless innings in relief tonight

Quick game report:

-Hughes looked horrible - very hittable, topped out at 90 a few times, hung a bunch of breaking balls.
-Durham and scrub playing CF missed some balls, but CF made a nice diving grab in the the 6th (I think it was the 6th)
-Morris looked good in his two innings -- Curve gun showed him in the 91-94 range (I'm guessing he was throwing a two-seamer and a four-seamer as he would get a few over at 91 and a few over at 94 with nothing in between) not counting the alleged 2 MPH low readings.  He throw almost exclusively FBs
-D'Arnaud looked good at 2B defensively, albeit not a  lot of chances.  He looked pretty good at the plate (solo HR to LCF that was no-doubt, hit the ball hard in all his ABs)
-Mercer didn't impress me...he hit the ball fairly hard but also looked pretty bad on some swings and misses
-Harrison didn't look good either -- he was 0 for 4 and didn't have anything close to a hit

I had the "pleasure" of staying for the entire game as my sister-in-law was selected for the gift card grab after the game so we stayed to watch.  The Curve stadium is still very nice, though the crowd was minimal (~3500).  That could have been due to the drizzle at the beginning of the game which delayed the start by 45 min even though my father-in-law said it has been like this all year (minimal crowds).

Thanks for the game report, always appreciated.

BTW,Altoona averages just over 4100, 8th in the 12 team league. All teams drop off this time of year due to school starting. I think playoffs are the biggest shock, they usually draw small crowds due to the time of year and the fact they dont sell tickets too far in advance. I go see my local team in the playoffs and their crowds are off the norm by a good 2-3k each night
