So what are the odds Nyjer actually makes it to town for the Pirates series this weekend?  If he's going to be in the lineup then maybe I should go out and watch the trainwreck continue (and get one of those terrible Pirate snuggies).

I cant imagine him being around for that series,he was already awaiting suspension for the fan thing, this is a second suspension and probably for longer than usual because the way he acted before it happened and afterwards. I'd be shocked if he's allowed to play this series, the Nationals might want to give him some time off even if the NL doesnt. Two suspensions at the same time have to equal definite time off I would think.

According to MLB Rumors Aki will be signing with Oakland.  I wonder if he still has his knee brace.

Mark Reynolds probably had 1100 of them himself.

Jose hits #50 today then got a text from Brady Anderson wanting his unlikely accomplishment back.

He's given the credit to Dwayne Murphy for helping his swing, wonder if he will cut him in when its contract time. Maybe he will just give him his silver slugger award Smiley

Jose Guillen was on Outside the Lines Sunday morning talking about his anger management issues. He talked a little bit about counseling, and admitted his blowups were a large part of the reason he's been on ten teams during his career.

That certainly sounds like a step in the right direction.

Should help him in his post-baseball life.

He needs a brace for his bat. I didn't think it was possible for him to hit worse than he did with the Pirates. I was wrong. In 36 plate appearances with Oakland he's hitting .129/.250/.161 for a .411 OPS.

I guess Aki's performance with Oakland means that his is at least one roster spot that won't cause Beane much concern in clearing.

Also, Oakland signing Aki helped provide Pittsburgh enough extra caxh to carry Steve Jackson (or any other underperforming player that you would like to cite) on the roster this September.

Octavio Dotel gave up two runs in the 8th to untie a tied ballgame.  The Rockies lost and were formally eliminated from the postseason.

I liked Dotel while he was here, even if I thought he was the 3rd best reliever.  Frankly, I thought the guys were backwards.  Dotel should have been the 7th, Hanrahan the 8th, and Meek the 9th inning guy.

But if Dotel's legacy is giving us James McDonald and Andrew Lambo, that would be pretty good.

It's nice that we could do something for Jim Tracy, however small it might have been.

I'll bet when the press asked Jim Tracy how he felt about that, he answered their question with a question.

Jose Bautista hit his first career opposite field HR today.  Seriously.  None of his first 112 went to right field.
