Ian Snell is in the bullpen for the Mariners now.  I'm sure that will work out well.

And so Dave Littlefield's prophecy comes to pass.

I can't imagine how this trade will be a loss for us. At worst, Clement and the 3 pitchers fail, but I wouldn't change a thing in hindsight.

I have no problem with the Mariners trade. Snell wanted out of Pittsburgh, and Jack Wilson was on the decline. It was time to let go of both players.

I got to see Jack Wilson boot two ground balls in last night's game against Tampa.

Gahhh, I'm jealous. I wanted to order Extra Innings again this year, but I'm moving in two months and it seemed like a bad value for half of the season.

Would you not be able to get them to transfer it to your new location? I'm sure that'd be a big hassle if they even let you do it, but it might have been worth a shot.

Good thought process, but my current cable provider isn't offered in my soon-to-be neighborhood.  Undecided

Jose Bautista, if nothing else, is hitting for power with the Jays.

He was miscast as an everyday player here, but he'd be a nice guy to have off the bench.

Adam Laroche:  .255 avg / .367 obp / .480 Slug / .847 OPS with 4 HRs.  It would have been nice to have Adam (support player) and Jones in the same lineup.  Jones needs protection, Adam is an average ML 1bman... which is a huge upgrade from the options we have.   He wasn't worth what he wanted by a long shot, but I wonder if we could take a crack at him this offseason?   You'd think he'd come at a discount because his Bro is here:

Tabata LF  (avg + Speed)
Andy   2b  (Obp + Avg + 20hr)
Cutch CF  (Everything)
Pedro 3b   (Slug + OBP)
Jones RF   (OBP + Slug)
Adam L. 1b (25 HR + .480+ Slug)

That would be a pretty nice 1-6 ... no?  At least, potentially.  Looks like a quality major league 1-6 to me.

Gorzo:  35IP / 2.83 ERA / 1.20 WHIP / 36k!  wowzers.   2.8 BB/9;  9.3 K/9.

Ironically, the two traded position players who are doing well are the two whose departures were (as far as I can recall) universally unlamented--Adam and Paulino.

There was never a realistic chance of Adam returning to Pgh.  We saw last winter that his salary demands were wildly unrealistic.  It took near-unemployment to bring him back to earth.

I never had a problem with Paulino as a hitter, except when he hit .212 of course but he was just so lazy behind the plate. It annoys me when catchers are so lazy it costs you games,if theyre calling for a pitch in the dirt, they should never be surprised when its there and if you refuse to block it,at least run after it,dont jog like youre punishing the pitcher.

Mets fans are getting real annoyed with Jason Bay and Im getting the blame from the ones I know like the Pirates put a chip in his head that doesnt let him swing at 3rd strikes when the game is on the line. I told a few of them I know, you might hate him now but twice during this season for a 3 week stretch he will be your favorite player, and two more times youll go back to hating him
