Chris Snyder signed with teh Astros

According to Jerry Crasnick, it's $750,000 in 2012 with only $350,000 guaranteed. $4 million option for 2013 with a $500,000 buyout. I was thinking he might have to settle for a minor league invite since there was little reported interest, but signing this deal with a team that figures to be terrible isn't much above that.

"...Varitek, who turns 40 in April, would seem to be a good fit in Minnesota.  The Twins will likely carry three catchers as Joe Mauer will need time to DH and rest and Ryan Doumit will mostly DH while also backing up Mauer."

This is what a lot have said is Doumit's best fit all along

Tim Wakefield has retired.

This is sad news for baseball.  I wish he could have had a farewell season.  Good baseball man.

Does that mean no one is left from the 1992 team?

Miguel Batista threw 2 innings for the 1992 Pirates after being taken in the Rule 5.  He was active in 2011 and signed a minor league deal with the Mets this offseason.  He's the last guy still bouncing around.

Seriously....

Wilbur, glad to see you're alive and Tim hasn't worked you to death.

I did see where Jack Wilson is hurt again already.  Four to six weeks with a calf injury.  Sorry to see it.

Don't forget, this is the franchise that is also still paying Bobby Bonilla over a million a year for the next couple of decades.

This one's tragic, but 1992 second round pick Danny Clyburn was murdered.

Likely that Jack Wilson will too.

I could see this being Wilson's last year.
