Shoot. I was hoping Mario would buy the team and they'd set up their own channel for Pirates and Penguins games.

Excellent.  150 games is a pretty nice increase.  Seemed like in years past they've just stopped showing the team during September, so this should put an end to that.

Right. They'd also mysteriously skip Saturday afternoon games in July & August for no apparent reason.

I thought I heard last year that Saturday afternoon games cannot be televised due to the MLB Contract with Fox. I don't believe a game can be televised while FOX is showing one in their time period. So in other words if Fox had a 4:00 game, the Bucs could not televise a game from San Fran which began at 3:45.

I think thats only on the MLB package but local telecasts can still go on. The FOX games start at 3:55 so anything that starts from 1pm to 6:55pm cant be shown, they give them a 3 hour grace period each way so its the only national game being shown but I've watched 1pm games before, just not on the package

That's not much of an issue this year. One Saturday afternoon day game all season...first trip into Wrigley. And it's not like Fox is going to ask the Pirates to move a game so they can televise it.

That makes a lot of sense. Thanks for the explanation

Chuck Finder put up a note on the TV schedule today.  He says they're showing 156 (!) games this year.  He says the 6 not on the schedule are:

Saturday April 10 @ Diamondbacks 8:10 PM
Sunday April 11 @ Diamondbacks 4:10 PM
Wednesday April 28 @ Milwaukee 1:10 PM
Wednesday May 12 vs. Cincinnati 12:35 PM
Saturday May 22 vs. Atlanta 7:10 PM
Saturday June 26 @ Oakland 9:05 PM

I guess that means they're planning on showing every game from July through the end of the season.  Someone's expecting a playoff run.

It is good to hear that they are broadcasting so many games.

I hate coming home, expecting to watch a Buccos game, only to find out that the game isn't on TV.

So no games on ESPN? What a surprise.
