....but did anyone else realize this team lost 7 times in the last 5 days! 2 on friday to the Phillies, the Reds on saturday,Rays on sunday, twice again to the Phillies monday and today to the Red Sox. I planned on them losing at least 90 games this season,i just didnt know they were trying to reach that plateau by May!
Where's the hated Manatee Community College Lancers when you need them!

It doesn't matter. There are guys playing that won't be on the team this year. It is still good to play those guys with the new management in place so they can actually see their younger players play.
Most of the starters have played two or three games.

I didn't say that at all.
I do think it is an over reaction to look at their record right now considering the projected starters have played two or three games. It is no secret how bad the minor leagues teams are and that is who is mostly playing right now.

Well usually half the lineup is in and they get 15-20 AB's per game(thats the average)but lets just say its the minor league team losing 7 straight vs other minor league teams....that would be fine? Dont forget the 4 top prospects(Cutch,Pearce,Bixler,Walker) are also playing pretty regularly too along with 4 or 5 regulars.
I think theyre just getting us used to losing this year early.
Also its not an over reaction by me because the first thing I said is "I know its extremely early" that means, I know its extremely early. That still doesnt mean its ok to lose 7 games in 5 days

The stats have not been pretty sir. 6.10 team ERA...that is solid.

45 at bats in six games by the starters (not counting Catcher and CF) is about 8 at bats a game by the starters. I know it is extremely early, so why even bring it up?
The players playing bad right now are mostly guys who won't be with the team. Only Nady is hitting bad who is projected to start and Duke and Bullington had bad outings. All the rest was done by players who are being looked at by management so they know which minor league team they will be going to.

Why would you not count certain positions towards that total I gave? I looked at the last 3 games, what we had and what the other teams had,and came up with about 17 per game per team so i said 15-20,Pirates had 15 the last game and 18 the game before.
I brought it up because no one mentioned the team lost 7 games in the last 5 days, that doesnt happen too often, not even during spring training. Its hard to lose 7 games in 5 days when other teams youre facing are using minor leaguers and retreads too especially when youre the home team during some of those games because stars dont take road trips early in spring.
I could see if i didnt say its extremely early in the title, but there it is for everyone to see, that should have been an indicator to you that i know whats going on. That being said if you want to know what it really means, seeing as we arent the Red Sox or pick a team you know will contend, this team is very bad and a losing streak like this doesnt give any hope. You would like to see something decent from these guys competing for a job(which a lot of pitchers are doing),and the minor leaguers trying to prove something because we already know what the major league team is capable of,or incapable of. Guys competing for jobs at this point always know it and are out to show it and teams full of guys like that mixed with regulars dont usually go down the toilet so quick. From all indications the hitting, fielding and pitching are all pretty bad now...I would say bad enough to lose 7 games in 5 days.
The most obvious reason i also brought it up though is because this is whats going on,this is the only thing we see,im not going to talk about how good Matt Morris looks running the outfield track or how Nyjer Morgan did in bunt drills. Why wouldnt I talk about what is actually happening on the field and when something noteworthy happens, actually mention it?

Aren't the other teams doing the same thing, new management or not? I'm not sweating it, although I don't have major expectations, either.

It's extremely early.
We are just jaded. It is not now too early to be tired of excuses, losing (for whatever reason), and glossing over the fact that this franchise has hit bottom without rebounding. We have new faces in management, but the ownership is intact from that entire losing decade and a half... who hired the previous management(s), they did. Who continues to deliver a payroll that is light years away from being competitive, they do. The debt reduction that they need to concern themselves with is losses on the field, and they don't. Jaded. Lied to. Ignored. Taken for granted. Pirate fans...

It's spring training!!! In fact its six games into Spring Training. if they were getting mauled 22-1 every game then there may be some concern. But c'mon, there are throwing a bunch of bums out there. ST is when you see what you got...not try and win the National League Central.

I actually agree to some extent with Omar. Certainly it is early, and even if you don't win a game in ST, everyone starts at 0-0 on March 31, but I also think that winning is important and just on average you should win a few of these games. Other teams are playing their retreads and minor leaguers also.

The other teams have better minor leaguers and retreads than we do.
Something tells me that this team could have more than its fair share of 1-5 or 1- 6 stretches in 2008 and not enough 5-0 streaks.
