I was always a big fan and caller to his radio show. The city of Pittsburgh lost a legend today. We'll miss ya Myron.

God bless the Cope family.

Myron will always be identified with the Steelers, but somehow, Jack Fleming won't be, probably because of his WVU ties.  Bill Hillgrove will always be identified with Pitt, so that splits him away a bit.

If there are two voices identified with the Steelers, it's probably Myron and...John Facenda?!?!

You are right, though, Z.  Prince, Cope, Lange.  What a cacophony of sports audio history!

Myron Cope will always be remembered very fondly for his passion and style in his Days with the Steelers broadcasts.

Pittsburgh has lost a TRUE sports Legend.  Flags should be at Half Staff.

While his health had been steadily on the decline, this is hardly unexpected but is not an EASY thing to injest.  Myron Cope was to the Steelers what Prince was to the Buccos and what Mike Lange is to the Penguins.  His idenity was the "Voice" of the Steelers through all the Glory Years.  It was Myron who led me through the Good years, bad years and spectactuar years.  His radio show forgged it's way into the airways and gave us a voice where we had not been heard.

Cope and Flemming - they were a "team" on the broadcasts.  Together they were the champion voices of the World Champion Pittsburgh Steelers.   They were there when Black-out rules existed.  We didn't always get to see every game.  They were our portal to the Steelers then.  They were there when we were in our cars and our homes showing us with our Ears.  They were the Steelers' Voices.  Then when the Networks took over and we began to see every game, we turned down the TV sound and tuned in Cope and Flemming.  It was THE ONLY WAY to watch a game.

RIP Myron, for you gave unto us the Gift of Time.  You gave me the "Steelers" and you gave us the Terrible Towel, which will forever be with us.

Thank You Myron, thank you always...

Myron Cope was a great man -- exceptional talent, unmistakeable flair, strong character.

He was a great writer who, after moving from the Pitt News to the national stage, could have left Pittsburgh behind.  Instead, he stayed.  After Chuck Noll's arrival turned the Rooneys into geniuses (a 180-degree turn), Cope persuaded Pittsburgh to bury four decades of derision and support the Steelers.

A genuine journalist, he brought a rare combination -- wit, knowledge, and fun -- to what is sometimes called "the toy department."  He fashioned a package of literary quality and human touch that brought joy to many people.  I doubt I was the only one who detoured around tunnels to avoid missing five minutes of his show.

Farewell, my friend, Myron Kopelman.
