Wow... who saw that coming? They are still unbeaten after pretty easily handling 'Bama's offense. Same thoughts as always when there are teams with losses playing for the national title while a team that has beaten some pretty good non-conference teams this year getting nothing to reward them for being undefeated.

We need a playoff system. Cut out the early season cupcakes, shorten the season to 10 games and start playing this thing off early with 16 or so teams. Those teams in the playoffs play anywhere from 11 to 14 total games and we rotate the 8 games around to different bowls with the Championship being played in a different place each year.

I am sorry that the computers disrespected Utah so much... I know that Alabama doesn't. They got their tails kicked. I almost thought that Saban was going to go all Woody Hayes on a player in the 4th quarter... anyone else see it? He was down on all fours screaming into the face of a player lying on the ground after making a huge stop for Utah.

People around here are still sleeping off the post game partying.....the Mo's (Mormons) were all caffeinated up on Diet Coke and Mountain Dew and couldn't go to sleep; and the No-Mo's (non-Mormons) are hung over. Good stuff for the state and conference.

I will say that before the game I thought Utah had a chance (Johnson is one of the kids who seems to know how to win and they had hung around in a couple of tough games this year), but I did not see that coming. When some of these power conference teams lose their shot at the national championship game I am not sure how excited they are to show up for their bowl games. Alabama did not look ready to go and by the time that Utah finished running their no-huddle offense in the first quarter it was 21-0. Can't help but think that Hawaii stinking up the Sugar Bowl last year as the non-BCS invite put the pundits and opposing players asleep. Utah was not Hawaii, their schedule was pretty solid with a come from behind win against Oregon State, a good win against TCU, who was a really good team, and a win over Michigan on the road (I know). Plus the whole Mountain West Conference was pretty solid.

I don't know about #1, but I think for all the playoff system hopefuls, it is another knock against the current system. I'm betting Southern Cal would want their shot too. After making fun of the Pac 10 as a weak conference for most of the year, they go 5-0 in bowls and make you wonder if SoCal is not a lot better than people were giving them credit for.
