Well, I know our Bucs seem to be taking a position of no action, but I am hoping they will go after Edwin Jackson. I still don't think the Pirates have enough starting pitching.

Wonder if would be open to coming to the Burgh?

I think there has to be a reason that Jackson is waiting so long to sign.   I think it might be the Red Sox.   Now that they've cleared some payroll I think they will sign him.

I'm anti multiple years for FA's especially pitchers so this doesn't bother me at all.   If they want to give Jackson one year $12M with the intentions of trading him at the deadline, I'm fine with that.  Not multiple years though... look at what happened to Jorge De La Rosa.

I think multiple year contracts for pitchers are just part of the game and teams have to be able to have the resources for when one goes sour.  Otherwise it is going to be almost impossible to have a strong pitching staff from year to year.

If the Bucs are lucky, Cole and Taillon will be like Cain and Lincecum and you don't want to have to let those players go through either trade or free agency after 6 years.

I'd love to bring Jackson into the mix to solidify the rotation, however I think some team perhaps Baltimore will give him the multi-year contract he seeks. He probably won't earn the 15 million per year he was supposedly seeking, but he'll still end up making I think 10 to 11 per year over 3 years.

I would offer him 3 yrs/ 30 million dollars and see if that entices him more than a 1 year deal from the BoSox, but I wouldn't go much higher.
