Yanks and Mariners make a swap with Campos and Noesi tossed in as well. Along with the Yanks signing of Kuroda, I think this actually has positive implications for  the Pirates as the market narrows for Edwin Jackson and Oswalt. I'd still be legitimately stunned if we picked up either one, but I'm encouraged by less teams shopping for SPs.

I'd really like to see them go after Jackson, but another decent option might be A.J. Burnett.

Yankees may be willing to trade Hughes now. He could be a good bounceback candidate.

I was actually wondering if it affects the Mariners decision to move Smoak?  If you believe Montero will play 1b and dh it makes for a crowded position with Montero, Smoak, and Carp.  I wonder if some combo of Marte and or Lincoln could get Smoak done!

Either one of those would be a great boost to the rotation.....but Bob will not pony up that kind of cash.

I read that Seattle believes he is a catcher, and that's why they dealt a pre-arb pitcher with Pineda's upside for him.

Such an interesting trade, and also an example of why loading up on pitchers doesn't mean we'll end up short on hitters.

The Pirates are getting a new GM?
