Check out "Portland: The Battered Bastards of Baseball" on Netflix if you can. Absolutely fascinating look at what was arguably the most popular independent minor league team in history.

It'll make you laugh and it will tug at your heart strings.

You can thank me later.

I saw it a few weeks ago.  It was a good story.  Certainly worth watching.

Isn't that the story of the team owned by Kurt Russell's father? Kurt played for them in 1973.

It'll be nifty if we can win fifty.

It was really interesting

but they really really played up the angle of Portland being underdogs.

they weren't

they were a bunch of 25-35 year old men, some with Major league experience, almost all with AA and AAA experience.

playing against 18-20 year old kids in short season low A ball.

Fortunately it is on Netflix. That way you can keep your normal bedtime hour which is 7PM
